Course overview
The Business Administrator apprenticeship equips employees with essential business skills, including project management, finance, and administrative processes, to support organisational efficiency. Apprentices will develop their interpersonal skills, gaining a clear understanding of how different teams and departments operate. The Business Administrator course provides practical strategies to streamline day-to-day operations, manage workloads effectively, and support internal and external stakeholders with confidence.
The Business Administrator apprenticeship is for anyone starting a career in administration or the business sector. It equips individuals with the skills and knowledge for job roles such as administration assistant, office coordinator, and executive assistant. This apprenticeship is ideal for upskilling staff and boosting business efficiency.

Module 2- Understanding the Organisation
Module 3- Project Management
Module 4 – Meeting regulations & legislation
Module 5 – Stakeholder Management
Module 6 – Business fundamentals & process management
Module 7- Communication & ICT
Module 8- Quality Control and Planning Processes
Module 9- Decision Making and Problem Solving
Module 10- Revision & preparation for the apprenticeship assessment.
The candidate completes the modules through online classroom sessions, led by their TRS skills coach.
After completing all the modules, they will be assessed by an independent external organisation. The assessment includes:
- Knowledge test – typically 60 minutes to assess understanding of business administration principles. The test consists of 50 questions.
- Portfolio-based interview – 45 minute portfolio interview discussing evidence of applied skills.
- Project presentation and Q&A – 15 minute presentation with a further 15 minutes for a Q&A session
On completion, the candidate will have achieved a level 3 apprenticeship and receive a certificate of completion from TRS

- Progress into new roles: Open pathways to positions such as administrative assistant, office coordinator, executive assistant, and other business support roles.
Large firms(+250 staff members) have 100% of course costs covered by their apprenticeship levy funds.
For small and medium-sized businesses (less than 250 staff members), the government funds 95% of the course, with the employer contributing 5%. Sometimes, the 5% can be covered by through other funding opportunities, which means there are no costs at all. From April 2026, the 5% is not payable for apprentices under the age of 25.
There is no cost to the candidate who does the course.
After a Business Administration apprenticeships, individuals could opt to continue their skills development on a team leader or management apprenticeship.
Our enrolment process is straightforward. Once they have the approval of their employer, the participant:
- completes an online application form
- undertakes some online assessments
- attends an onboarding call with the TRS enrolment officer
After this, training begins.
To start an apprenticeship, individuals must be 16 or over, living in England, and have the right to work in the UK. They must not be in full-time education when the apprenticeship begins.
Apprentices need to be employed and earning a wage, whether as a new recruit or an existing employee being upskilled. The role they’re in must be directly relevant to the apprenticeship and allow them to develop and practice the required skills.
They cannot be enrolled on another funded apprenticeship or DfE-funded programme at the same time.

The TRS Team provides tailored support with anything that might affect training progress, from workplace challenges to personal concerns. As well as teaching, TRS skills coaches offer careers guidance, wellbeing support, and regular mentoring throughout the learning journey.

Almost all the apprenticeships we offer include a FREE bolt-on course, which can be chosen from a list delivered by TRS, or one of our partners. This is in ADDITION to the training received on the standard apprenticeship programme.
